Lightweight and roomy
Love this suitcase! In the past, I've used a slightly smaller bag that was softsided nylon, with exterior pockets, which is very durable, but heavy. This one doesn't have pockets, but there's much more interior room and it's easy to pack -- being all nice and squared off, the inexpensive packing cubes work really well. It's very lightweight and it came through the airline baggage systems (round-trip!) unscathed and looking beautiful. I was leery about hardside luggage, but I'm sold now.
No complaints after my first trip!
TL;DR: I highly recommend this set. It looks great, seems sturdy and durable in my limited use, and is priced just right.
Got the 3-piece set ahead of a week-long trip because I wanted something that looked good and that I could use for years to come. These were priced right within my budget and, in my opinion, were worth the cost. There are cheaper options for luggage, but if you travel on any sort of cadence, you know that quality and durability is the name of the game and that you typically need to pay a bit more for that.
I think these strike a perfect balance of affordability, durability, design, and brand reputation. Samsonite was recommended numerous times on reddit's /r/BuyItForLife subreddit, so I decided on this set after reading some of the reviews.
I've read reviews that say that Samsonite's quality has gone down, and that may or may not be true, but I haven't experienced any issues. I think it's important to keep in mind that there's always a possibility that someone received a faulty set. That would be frustrating, but it happens. I don't necessarily think it's fair to write off the entire set because you happened to get one from a bad batch. I do think that Samsonite may need to improve it's quality control if this kind of scenario is common enough, but I personally had no issues.
I had my checked bag packed tight, even slightly over weight, and had no issues picking it up by the extendable handle. Even though that's generally not advisable, the luggage felt sturdy and I didn't feel like I was on the verge of breaking it like I have with cheaper luggage. The wheels were buttery smooth even going over carpet, the expandable handles glide in and out smoothly, and there are some nice pockets within the luggage where you could put smaller items like AirTags, small accessories, charging cables, spare change, or whatever other miscellaneous small items you might have.
If you're like me and get analysis paralysis and can't decide, just buy these. You'll be happy you did.
Durable! Pretty & love it.
Okay, I’m retired now & do a bit of traveling with girlfriends. Since I travelled a lot during my software career I wanted to get rid of the set of luggage I had when I worked. Had always purchased Samsonite sets so thought I would start there. Decided hard back & glad I did. Selected the Caribbean Blue because one thing you learn when you fly a great deal is the more boring your luggage the greater the likelihood that it will get stolen. Nobody is going to steal this bright blue suitcase & run through the airport with it. It’s too easy to spot. And oh, you can pick your luggage out on the arrival carousel quickly. The blue color is not a loud, brash blue. It’s a fun, I’m on vacation, blue. Originally, I bought only the carryon just to test out the hard surface feature. It’s lightweight & is so easy to maneuver, especially if you have a couple pieces. The only thing I wish was different. They don’t have separate compartments to keep your items organized. There’s only one long zippered compartment on the fold of the suitcase. And there’s a sneaky compartment too. On the inside on the side that has the handle you will see a long zipper. I roll up my jeans & put them between the handles which gives you more room AND it helps to keep your clothes flat. Otherwise the handle bars will crease your clothes. Buy some additional toiletry bags or if you have some from other luggage sets, use them. My older Samsonite luggage had extra bags, etc & I just use them. So, yes I purchased the 24” as well. Heads-up….Amazon sells the luggage straps that you can use with this set. Say, 10 dollars for 2. Literally you can attach the handle of the smaller luggage to the extended handle of the larger bag, put your tote bag on top of the larger bags, wrapping the handles around the extended handle & use one hand to pull all your luggage so you can enjoy a cup of coffee in your other hand. Once you attach it a couple times you can do it pretty quickly, in the middle of the night, in the dark. It’s very smooth, especially in busy airports. It’s just ingenious. So, if you see someone in an airport with Caribbean Blue luggage strapped together like I’m the boss, be sure to stop me & say hello.
